Saturday 2nd May Workshop will focus on coloured pencil techniques. We’ll start with drawing warm‑up activities before moving into colour theory and practical exercises in shading, layering soft tones, and burnishing.
To finish, you’ll have the option to choose a protea, leucadendron, or red grapes reference image for your final drawing.
Indulge in a day of creativity in a relaxed atmosphere with like minded people.
My drawing workshop is an instructional introduction to drawing with pen and ink and coloured pencils & to create a botanical illustration!
The course is designed to increase your knowledge on drawing media, build skills in rendering techniques and learn how to use negative space to draw accurately. The workshop is suitable for beginners through to intermediate artists.
The aim of the day is be in the moment and be free from constraints to create a finished botanical illustration. The workshop is suitable to all abilities from total beginners through to competent artists.
I will lead you through drawing warmups and provide step by step instructions on how to use to line, shape, tone and negative space to get more out of your drawing and composition.
I will share my art process and how to approach a botanical drawing in pen and ink or coloured pencil to complete an illustration.
A grazing style morning tea and glass of sparkling wine is provided to enhance the creative culture and indulgence of the day!!
Each participant will also receive a drawing essentials kit which includes fineliner pens, graphite pencils, kneadable eraser as well as a Paula Zetlein book to sketch in.
